Burger Rehabilitation Systems leadership team includes:
Carol Burger PT, MPA, President and Owner a Loma Linda and University of San Francisco graduate and practicing physical therapist for over 30 years. Carol Burger established the company in 1978 and has been its sole owner and president throughout its longstanding history. Throughout Ms. Burger’s career as a clinician and business owner, skilled nursing services have been her primary focus. She stays current on developments in the long-term care industry via membership in multiple professional organizations and shares her knowledge with her staff and clients. For example, during the transition to PPS in 1998, Ms. Burger taught numerous seminars on PPS for administrators and nursing directors that were well attended. Ms. Burger is a longstanding American Physical Therapy Association member and is on the advisory board of the School of Physical Therapy at Cal State University Sacramento. She has been asked to participate in many business community leadership forums and is a frequently asked by the media to serve as spokesperson for the physical rehabilitation industry as a whole.
Greg Lee MPT, Director of Skilled Nursing Services is a Graduate of Chatham College of Pittsburgh, PA with a Masters in Physical Therapy. Prior to joining Burger Rehabilitation Greg worked with two national rehabilitation services companies in northern California and assumed progressively greater levels of management responsibility. He has extensive clinical, administrative and marketing support experience. Greg directs the activities of the rehabilitation coordinators for each Burger Rehabilitation contract site through site visits and bi-weekly meetings. His duties include training of new clinicians, customer support, regulatory compliance and program development.
Shawn Burger MPT Vice President of Operations graduated from Loma Linda University with his Masters in Physical Therapy. With over 10 years of clinical experience all with Burger Rehabilitation Shawn has assumed responsibility for all 12 outpatient clinics. While his duties include the normal day to day operations of running the Burger Group his abilities allow for him to not only direct operations but assist with strategic planning in order to progress Burger Rehabilitation for future development.
Elizabeth Johnson, Director of Human Resources and Risk Management graduated from the University of Oregon in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She has close to 30 yrs. experience, 23 of which have been in the health care industry. Elizabeth provides daily leadership for our Human Resources and Risk Management Programs. Over the years, she has participated in a number of educational and experiential training programs and is available to share these programs with our Clients. Elizabeth has substantial experience providing training in a variety of subject matter including Management Development, Communication Skills, OSHA/Haz Mat/Injury Prevention/Accomodation, Stress I.D./Prevention, HIPAA Compliance and Team Building. Each year, Elizabeth provides a Human Resources seminar to Physical Therapy students at the University of California, Sacramento.
Kathy Pugh, MHA, Controller has 18 years of experience in the healthcare industry, having spent over 17 years with a local radiology group before joining Burger in 2008. Kathy holds a BS in Accountancy from California State University at Sacramento and a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration from Chapman University. Kathy is an active participant in the Medical Group Management Association.
Mike Cicero P.T. Director of Outpatient Operations graduated from California State University – Sacramento in 1998, with his degree in Physical Therapy. He opened (2) private Outpatient therapy clinics over the following years and, recently, merged his business with Burger Rehabilitation Systems, Inc. in Folsom, California. He currently works as the Director of Outpatient Operations for Burger Rehab and treats on occasion in one of his sites. As a P.T. volunteer at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Track and Field Trials. Additionally, he volunteered as a P.T. for the National Junior Olympics. Mike is an assistant instructor for the Graston Technique and is a teaching partner with the CHW Family Practice Residency Program.
Eric Burger, Business Development Director has been working with Burger Rehabilitation for over 5 years now. Eric’s Duties include prospecting and development of potential skilled nursing partners. In addition to marketing efforts and facility support Eric is the go to guy in terms of customer relations. If he can’t get it done he knows who can. In addition to facility support services Eric maintains a healthy relationship with CAHF and Aging Services in order to keep up with the ever changing world of long term care.
Multiple rehabilitation coordinators direct the programs at each site, depending upon volume. These individuals are the facilities’ first point of contact and are the individuals with the primary responsibility for program development, compliance and customer satisfaction.
