Volunteer and Observation for pre-Therapy Students
Burger Rehabilitation Systems, Inc.’s mission is to provide students with pre-therapy interests the opportunity to discover first hand if rehabilitation therapy is an area for one to pursue. We can provide students with a highly qualified and professional experience by providing the students the chance to do observation hours for college credit, or volunteer at one of our sites.
Observer/Volunteer Information Sheet
To ensure an effective education experience, we are requesting the students contact Burger Rehabilitation Systems, Inc. direct. Once approval is received from the Rehabilitation Manager, the “Student Packet” needs to be completed and submitted PRIOR to entry onto our facilities. Students will be submitting documentation of immunizations, TB testing, evidence of health coverage, HIPPA training, have a current California driver’s license (if traveling between facilities), and received and comply with the Company dress code. You must also, at the completion of your time with Burger, submit thier signed documented dates and hours that you observed or volunteered.
Each year we have been privileged to witness the volunteer efforts of our own Staff therapist. They are able to give the students the opportunity to “shadow” the day in the life of a Therapist. This firsthand experience enables the pre-therapy student the help decide if this is a career path that matches what they are seeking in their career choice.
Volunteers and Observation Students can select from a variety of settings and specialties in California such as:
- Acute Hospital
- Skilled Nursing
- Outpatient Adult
- Outpatient Pediatrics
- Aquatic Therapy
- Neuro Therapy
- Orthopedic Therapy
- Industrial Therapy
We would like to thank you for your interest in our Volunteer and Observation Program offered Burger Rehabilitation as both a student and an affiliated college or university. We realize that scheduling and managing the clinical educational experiences is an enormous undertaking. The purpose of this is to explain the process, which proves mutually beneficial to all.
We also provide pre-clinical experiences for Observation and Volunteers. The students can be placed in our Outpatient Clinics, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Pediatrics’ Clinic, and Acute Care Hospitals on a “first come, first serve “ basis. The student can contact us direct for suggested placements. The student is then responsible for the timely completion of the required paperwork submitted by Burger Rehabilitation in the “Student Packet” and documents PRIOR to entry into the program.
It is our intent to make this a very rewarding Volunteer and Observation Program for the student. These educational experiences are very crucial in the preparation of new professionals in our field as therapists. The student’s highly value these experiences and we wish to make it a positive experience with Burger Rehabilitation Systems, Inc.
